2012-2013 Broadway Theater Series New Season Tickets on Sale June 7


The Peoria Civic Center announces the 2012-2013 Broadway Theater Series, featuring eight of the best in national touring productions, anchored by one week of Disney’s Mary Poppins in October and two weeks of Jersey Boys in February. The season also features HAL HOLBROOK IN MARK TWAIN TONIGHT, BETTE MIDLER PRESENTS: PRISCILLA, DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, BILLY ELLIOT, GREEN DAY’S AMERICAN IDIOT andWEST SIDE STORY.Adult season tickets for the eight shows range from $284 to $560.THE PEORIA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA’S BROADWAY TONIGHT, ROCK OF AGES, A CHORUS LINE AND MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOTare all offered as one night extras.
New season tickets for the series go on sale Thursday, June 7, 2012, at 10 am at the Peoria Civic Center Box Office or by phone at 309-673-3200. Season ticket holders receive the first opportunity to purchase the best available seats, discounts on ticket prices, and advance notice on theatrical events at the Peoria Civic Center.

The season kicks off with Actor Hal Holbrook in Mark Twain Tonight!  on October 26-27, 2012. Mark Twain is one of the most acclaimed and enduring performances in the history of American Theater. We are proud to open our new season with this legendary talent in his trademark role, one that continues to delight audiences as it has for decades.
Next is Disney’s Mary Poppins on October 30 – November 4, 2012. The world’s most famous nanny is coming to the Peoria Civic Center! MARY POPPINS includes such wonderful songs as “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” “A Spoonful of Sugar,” and, of course, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” Let your imagina­tion take flight at this perfectly magical musical!
Up next is Bette Midler presents: Priscilla on January 3-4, 2013. Bette Midler proudly presents PRISCILLA! This spectacular show tells the story of a trio of friends searching for love and friendship in the Australian outback. With over 500 dazzling, 2011 Tony Award-winning costumes, PRISCILLA features dance-floor favorites such as “It’s Raining Men,” “Finally” and “I Will Survive.”
Following Bette Midler presents: Priscilla is Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on January 15-16, 2013. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, this smash hit mu­sical has won the hearts of over 35 million people worldwide. This classic love story is filled with unforgettable characters, lavish sets and costumes, and daz­zling production numbers including “Be Our Guest” and the beloved title song.
Next up is Jersey Boys on February 12-24, 2013. The 2006 Tony Award-winning Best Musical JERSEY BOYS is the story of how four blue-collar kids became one of the greatest successes in pop music history – the Four Seasons. JERSEY BOYS features hit songs “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” Rag Doll,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
Next is Billy Elliott on March 12-14, 2013. BILLY ELLIOT is the spectacular show with the heart, humor, and passion to be honored with ten 2009 Tony Awards®. Set in a small English town, the story fol­lows Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, discover­ing a surprising talent for dance that changes his life forever.
Following Billy Elliot is GREEN DAY’S American Idiot on April 23-24, 2013. Direct from Broadway, the smash-hit musical AMERICAN IDIOT tells the story of three lifelong friends, forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. Based on Green Day’s GRAMMY® Award-winning multi-platinum album, AMERI­CAN IDIOT boldly takes the American musical where it’s never gone before. The result is an experience The New York Times declares “thrilling” and “emotionally charged.”
The final show of the season is West Side Story on May 20-21, 2013. From the first notes to the final breath, WEST SIDE STORY is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time. This groundbreak­ing new production, directed by the legendary Arthur Laurents, offers a bold new design that builds on the show’s raw power and emotion to create a fresh experience unlike any that came before it.
Season ticket holders also have the opportunity to buy tickets in advance for the season’s four extras, The Peoria Symphony Orchestra’S Broadway Tonight, Rock of Ages, A Chorus Line and Monty Python’s Spamalot.
The Peoria Symphony Orchestra’s broadway tonightwill present an evening of the wonderful music that will be featured throughout our Broadway Theater Series, from the musical poetry of Beauty and the Beast to the dramatic tones of West Side Story on September 22, 2012.
Rock of Agesis returning this season as an extra on October 18, 2012. This five-time Tony Award nominated musical takes you back to the times of big bands with big egos sporting even bigger hair! Set in LA’s infamous sunset strip in 1987, ROCK OF AGES tells the story of two kids chasing their dreams of making it big and falling in love. It’s a full-out, blast-off, hold-onto-your-hairspray celebration of the great rock music of the 80’s!
The longest-running American Broadway musical, A Chorus Line, is on November 30, 2012.
In an empty theater, on a bare stage, casting for a new Broadway musical is almost complete. A CHORUS LINE is the musical for eve­ryone who’s ever put it all on the line. Come meet the new generation of Broadway’s best!
The final extra is Monty Python’s Spamalot on February 2, 2013. Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, Monty Python’s SPAM­ALOT is the new musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the film classic “Monty Python and The Holy Grail.” Flying cows, killer rabbits, and taunt­ing Frenchmen are just a few of the reasons audiences everywhere are eating up SPAMALOT!
